How it works
A conversation becomes a book
No blank page, no deadline, and no need to be a writer. You answer Sage's questions in your own words, by typing or talking, and Sage does the writing. Here is how it goes.
Start your storyStep 1
You set up your story
Whose story it is, and what shape it takes. A whole life, a love story, a family history, a pet, your travels, a working life, or a subject entirely your own. You choose how deep to go, which sets the price and the photo allowance, and we suggest a set of chapters already ticked and in order. Untick what you do not want, add your own, and rearrange them. It takes a few minutes, and nothing is locked in.
Step 2
You talk it through with Sage
No form to fill in and no blank page to face. Sage, your AI story coach, asks the kind of questions a thoughtful interviewer would ask, listens, and follows up on the things worth exploring. You answer in your own words, by typing or talking, whichever feels easier. Most chapters take somewhere between half an hour and an hour, and you can stop and come back whenever you like.
Step 3
Sage writes your book
Everything you shared is shaped into real chapters, with a beginning, a shape and a voice of their own. The details you mentioned in passing, the name of the street or the smell of the kitchen, are the ones that end up mattering most. Then the whole story is read back through, so names, dates and details hold together from the first page to the last.
Step 4
You read every word, before paying anything
You read the whole book, cover to cover, laid out exactly as it will be printed. Nothing is hidden behind a paywall. This is the part people tell us they were not ready for: a life they thought they knew, set down in full, with things in it they had never been told. If anything is wrong, tell Sage and it is put right, as many times as you like.
Step 5
You add your photos and choose how to keep it
Your own photographs sit through the book, beside the parts of the story they belong to. Then you choose: a digital edition to share instantly, a softcover, or a hardcover made to be passed down, with an optional audiobook read by a professional narrator or in the storyteller’s own voice. Your book is printed and bound to order. UK delivery is £4.99 and your book arrives within 7-10 days of ordering.
Nothing to pay upfront
You read your entire finished book before choosing a format or paying anything.
Built from your real memories
Sage writes the book, but every fact in it comes from what you actually shared. Nothing is invented.
Kept forever
A digital edition, a printed keepsake, and an optional audiobook to pass down.

Common questions
- How long does it take to make a book with Chapternity?
- There is no fixed answer, because it depends how much you want to say. Most chapters take somewhere between half an hour and an hour of chatting with Sage, and you work through them at whatever pace suits, over as many sittings as you like. Once you ask Sage to write the book, the draft takes up to around half an hour to generate, and we email you when it is ready so you can close the page and come back.
- Do I need to be good at writing or with computers?
- No. Sage does the writing. You simply answer questions in your own words, by typing or talking. If you can hold a conversation, you can make a Chapternity book.
- Do I pay before I see anything?
- No. Telling your story, having the book written and reading every chapter all cost nothing. You only pay once you have read your finished book and chosen a format.
- Can I make a book about someone else, as a gift?
- Yes. Many people create a book as a gift by interviewing a parent, grandparent or partner, or by giving a Chapternity gift card so the storyteller can tell it in their own time.
