The stories you most want to keep, a parent’s life, a marriage, a family history, a working life or the years spent with a beloved pet, are among the most personal things you own. Handing them to a piece of software should not be done lightly. So here is exactly how Chapternity treats them, in plain terms, and what to look for in any service you are considering.
Who owns the story?
You do. With Chapternity, the story, the words and everything in it belong entirely to you. We never share it, publish it, or use it for any purpose without your explicit permission. It is your keepsake, not our content, and that is true whether you are telling a life story, a love story, a family history or any other.
Is my story used to train AI?
No. Your memories are not used to train AI models, and neither are any voice recordings you provide for an audiobook. They exist to make your book and your audiobook, and nothing else. When you are weighing up any AI service, this is the single most important question to ask, and to see answered clearly and in writing.
Who can see my memories?
Your story is private to you. It is not shown to other people, sold, or handed to advertisers. You decide who ever reads it. Many people keep it just for the family and share it only when they feel ready, and some never share it at all. That choice stays yours.
What about voice cloning?
The optional audiobook can be narrated in the storyteller’s own voice, recreated with AI. This only ever happens with the consent of the person whose voice it is. The recording is used solely to narrate that audiobook. It is not shared, it is never used to train anything, and it can be deleted on request at any time. You stay in control the whole way through
- You read the complete book before you pay a penny, so nothing is decided for you.
- You can edit any chapter yourself, or ask Sage to rewrite it, until it reads right.

Being honest about what AI does, and does not, do
It helps to be clear-eyed. Sage does not invent a life. It asks questions, listens to the answers, and writes them into chapters, the way a good interviewer and editor would. Everything in the book comes from what you tell it, and you review every word before anything is printed. The AI is the tool that does the writing and the careful tidying up. You are the author, and the memories are yours.
